I have been working with The Making House to exhibit the first exhibition I have ever curated. As well as running The Making House Anna Roebuck is also the gallery officer at The Brew House Arts Centre and runs her own business Bags2Riches. With all that experience I knew I was in safe hands to put together my first exhibition and so glad to have that guidance!
Yesterday I went to The Making House to start setting up the exhibition and it was a lot harder and tiring then I thought it was going to be! I have learnt alot about selecting work that compliments each other as well as making sure you have a variety of price points. Also checking how things will hang and more importantly how pieces will hang in the gallery space.
As well as the gallery space we also dressed the window of The Making House. I have never window dressed before and really enjoyed it. As it is a colourful theme we were able to have a bit of fun with the window and make it a bit quirky.
I have already got ideas of how to dress the window when I do my own solo exhibition at The Making House later in the year.
Here is a selection of the work that will be on display, hope you can come and visit!

I have been asked so many times if I make hats and I always answer with “not right now but maybe in the future.” I find it so hard to find time to try out new designs but eventually made my self sit down at my machine and have a go. So here it is my very first machine knitted hat, what do you think?
I shaped this hat by decreasing stitches with a transfer tool on my knitting machine
I’m quite pleased with the result as I completely made it up and guessed how many stitches to transfer and how many rows to knit.

I am having a go at my own little yarnbomb tomorrow as part of my photo shoot. And later in the year I am helping to yarn bomb Sherwood as part of Sherwood Art week. So I thought I would start looking at yarn bomb ideas for inspiration. Here are a few of my favourites.
This week I won my very own Zeus Labels stag head! I entered their facebook page competition and was delighted when I found out I had won! I have wanted one for so long and now I have my very own hanging on my wall.
They don’t just do stag heads, here’s a selection of their beautiful work.

We had a new house mate move in about a month ago called Bella
We adopted her from a friend who is leaving the country so had to find a new home for her. She seems to have settled in and loves that I constantly have yarn around the house. She especially likes to attack my knitting while I’m working on it!
Very soon after adopting Bella I saw that Amy Blackwell does custom cat illustrations! I love Amy’s work so instantly got in touch about getting one done for Bella.
I love Amy’s use of simple shapes, cleans line and colour. Here are some more examples of her beautiful work
Delivery was very quick and it came beautifully packaged. I even got some stickers!
